What is the time and location of the wedding?

The wedding and celebration will be at Temple B'nai Israel, 3600 Riverside Blvd., Sacramento, CA 95818 from 2-8 PM. Please arrive around 1:30 PM. The ceremony will be about 30 minutes.

What should I wear?

Cocktail or semi-formal attire. Dress to impress--this is your excuse to wear the outfit you've been saving. We want everyone looking and feeling their best, or just come dressed like the best-looking person in the room. And be ready to dance. Suits and ties are encouraged for men.

Will the ceremony and reception be indoors or outdoors?

The ceremony will be indoors, and the reception will be mostly indoors. There is a small courtyard, so bring a sweater if you’d like to enjoy the outdoor air in the evening.

Do you have a gift registry?

Having established our home, we don’t need traditional gifts. Your presence means the world to us. For those who wish, contributions toward our honeymoon in Costa Rica — where we’ll be wandering rainforest paths, lingering over beautiful meals, and toasting this next chapter — may be made via the GiftRegistry tab on this website, or if you prefer, we are happy to receive a check at the wedding or by mail. Thank you so much for celebrating with us and for your generosity.

I’m coming from out of town; where should I stay?

We encourage out of town guests to book early as the AfterShock music festival is the same weekend as our wedding. We have selected a few hotels; please see “Travel” section for details. One hotel has a link for a 10% code.

What should I know about parking?

There is a parking lot onsite and plenty of street parking in front of the Temple.

Will dietary restrictions be accommodated?

Yes, we will ask for preferences when we send out the RSVP later this year.

I have never been to a synagogue before; what should I expect?

Our ceremony will take place in a Reform Jewish synagogue, which is welcoming and inclusive of people from all backgrounds and faith traditions. The service will be primarily in English, with some traditional Hebrew prayers woven in. You’ll see a few beautiful Jewish rituals, including blessings over wine, the exchange of rings under a chuppah (wedding canopy), and the breaking of a glass at the end of the ceremony. You’re welcome to simply observe and enjoy — there’s no expectation that guests participate in prayers unless they feel comfortable doing so.

What’s the weather like in Sacramento in early October?

The average high is around 79 degrees, and the average low is 55 degrees. The evenings are usually in the mid-60s.

I don’t know Sarah—what can you tell me about her?

Sarah is kind, smart, funny, and grounded — and she has a smile that makes everyone around her feel instantly happier. She brings out the best in me and truly is the love of my life. Family and home matter deeply to her. Although she grew up in Sacramento, she’s lived all over the world, including Santa Barbara, Washington, D.C., San Francisco, Hawaii, and Central America, and those experiences have shaped the thoughtful, open-hearted person she is today. She works for the State of California’s Department of Conservation, doing meaningful work in environmental mediation and community engagement. She gets a lot of joy from designing workshops that support participants to have insightful and meaningful experiences that result in action. She is very social and loves to host parties. For those of you who haven’t met Sarah yet, I can’t wait for you to finally meet her, feel the warmth of her smile in person and celebrate with us. ~ Ray

I don’t know Ray—what can you tell me about him

Ray is one of the steadiest people I’ve ever known. He’s a thoughtful and respected attorney in private practice, and I love listening to him untangle the unusual cases that land on his desk. He has a gift for storytelling—he even used to host a live show in the spirit of The Moth—and he brings that same attentiveness and curiosity into everyday life. He is patient, intentional, and incredibly dependable—the person who always shows up prepared and somehow has exactly what’s needed (camping with him is next-level). He is a loyal friend, a steady presence, and someone whose ability to love feels expansive and generous. Watching him embrace my large family with genuine admiration and care has been one of the quiet joys of our relationship. Born in New York, raised in Florida, and now a Californian for more than thirty years; he’s called San Francisco home for most of that time, spent two years in Los Angeles, and is happily settling into his third wonderful year in Sacramento. I feel deeply grateful to be building a life with him. ~ Sarah

I am wondering what Ginger and Violet are up to?

Ginger is 20 and a junior at UC Berkeley with a double major in linguistics and neuroscience. She is away doing a semester abroad in Berlin from February to August. Violet is 15 and a freshman at C.K. McClatchy High School. She played tennis in the Fall and made the JV soccer team! She is always trying to get her mom to take her to Starbuck’s. Both girls love to thrift as much as their mom.
